What is Display ?

The display is an electronic device that visualize the data like videos & images and shows you on a screen. Display is an output device. For any smart phones the display is the main Component that helps you to interact with you Device. The display includes million of colors with the help of different types of Display Technology like :-

  1. LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)
  2. The LCD stands for Liquid Crystal Display. LCD screen replaces heavy, bulky Cathode Ray Tube(CRT) in probably all aspect. They are made up of large number of quantum dot display. It is flat-panel display that runs on light regulating properties of liquid crystals which or put together with polarizers. Liquid crystal uses a reflector or backlight to emit light that produces a images in color or monochrome. As LCD didn't use phosphors they rarely suffer discoloration when an steady image is display for a long duration on a screen.

  3. TFT-LCD (Thin Film Transistor Technology)
  4. The TFT-LCD stands for Thin Film Transistor Technology. It is the further modification of a liquid-crystal display which implies thin-film-transistor technology at increases the qualities of images such as addressability, contrast. This displays screen is most widely used in a budget smartphones.

  5. IPS-LCD (In Place Switching)
  6. The IPS LCD stands for In Place Switching. This display was developed by Hitachi Ltd. It is a screen technology to LCD(Liquid-Crystal-Display). This type of display was built to overcome the poor viewing angle and poor color replication of Twisted nematic display. This display runs on a resolution up to 960px X 640px. IPS display has wide viewing angle and accurate color reproduction. They mainly used in high end monitors and screen because the crystal molecules move parallel to the panel plane not perpendicular to it which gives the higher contrast and nice depth to the color.

  7. PLS (Plane Line Switching)
  8. The PLS stands for Plane Line Switching. This is display technology developed by Samsung. They further manufactured an advanced version of PLS as Super PLS by the end of 2010. This display was develop as an alternative for an IPS display technology. The performance of Super PLS over IPS Display provides wide viewing angle, It has 10% more Brightness, Up to 15% cheaper than IPS display, Higher Image quality and Flexible display panel.

  9. OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode)
  10. The OLED stands for Organic Light-Emitting Diode, it's scientific name is electroluminescent diode. It contains a layer of organic compound that emits light when it comes in contact with electric current. As OLED emits visible light it can works without backlight. This displays deep black levels and can lighter than LCD. It gives an high quality of images in a low light condition with higher contrast ratio than LCD.

  11. AMOLED (Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode)
  12. The AMOLED stands for Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode. It is an OLED type of display device technology which contains an active matrix of OLED pixel that generates light when the electric current. They are integrated between a Thin Film Transistor array that controls the current flowing in each pixel. That's the reason it produces high refresh rate with response time less than a millisecond. This type of display are mainly used in foldable or flipable device as they are fabrication is of flexible plastic substrates.

  13. sAMOLED (Super Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode)
  14. The sAMOLED stands for Super Active-Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode. It is an enhanced version of AMOLED that includes an combined touch screen digitzer. In it the layer that detects touch is combined in to the display rather than overlaid on top of it and cannot separated from display itself.
